Is 7 Days to Die - Console Edition Worth Playing?

Metric Gamer scores 7 Days to Die - Console Edition 3.1/5 — "7 Days to Die earns a strong rating thanks to its intense blood moon system, satisfying base building and excellent cooperative survival potential. The destructible world and long term progression keep the experience engaging even after dozens of hours. While outdated visuals and a thin story prevent it from reaching the very top tier, the core survival loop remains gripping and highly replayable for sandbox fans. "

7 Days to Die - Console Edition In-Depth Metric Analysis

7 Days to Die - Console Edition Gameplay Review

3.5/5.0

The core loop of scavenging by day and defending by night is where 7 Days to Die shines. Building a base that can actually withstand a blood moon attack feels rewarding, especially with the structural integrity system punishing careless designs. Combat is serviceable but not always smooth, with melee swings and zombie reactions sometimes feeling clunky. The perk system allows different playstyles, from stealth looters to heavy weapon defenders, though some builds feel stronger than others. It is a genuinely fun survival system, just held back slightly by rough edges.

7 Days to Die - Console Edition Co-op and Multiplayer Review

4/5.0

Surviving alone is tough, but surviving with a group is where the game really opens up. Cooperative base building and shared horde defence create natural teamwork moments that feel earned rather than scripted. Server settings allow adjustments to difficulty, loot levels and blood moon frequency, giving groups control over how punishing the world feels. PvP servers also add tension for those who want a more ruthless experience. Minor stability issues stop it from being perfect, but multiplayer adds huge value overall.

7 Days to Die - Console Edition Co-op Customisation Review

3.5/5.0

World settings can be tweaked to change zombie speed, experience gain, day length and horde intensity. These options genuinely affect how the game plays, allowing for relaxed building focused servers or brutal survival challenges. On PC, mod support expands this even further with overhaul mods and new systems. Console players have fewer options, which limits parity across platforms. There is solid flexibility here, just not complete freedom everywhere.

7 Days to Die - Console Edition Graphics Review

2.5/5.0

The world is large and varied, with deserts, forests and ruined cities offering decent environmental diversity. However textures, lighting and character models show their age, especially when compared to newer survival games. Zombie animations can look stiff, and close combat highlights some of the rougher visual elements. Performance has improved over time, but the overall presentation still feels dated. The visuals get the job done, but they are not the reason to play.

7 Days to Die - Console Edition Story Review

2/5.0

Story takes a clear back seat to survival systems. Traders offer quests and there are hints about the wider world, but there is no deep narrative driving events forward. Most of the experience is shaped by emergent moments rather than structured storytelling. There are no major cinematic sequences or character arcs anchoring progression. The focus is firmly on sandbox survival rather than narrative depth, which explains the lower score here.
